ABOUT

TechHealthy.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy technology use worldwide.  Our mission is to educate individuals, families, schools, and other organizations on healthy vs. unhealthy use of today’s technology, and empower people with evidence-based knowledge and tools to make TechHealthy decisions.

As psychologists and educators, Drs. Slone and Bylund were concerned about the devastating impact technology misuse was having on their clients and their own families.  This led these two dedicated professionals to research and develop interventions that help people of all ages find a healthy understanding and balance with today’s technology.

After years of successfully implementing these treatments, and with technology misuse and addiction reaching epic proportions (especially during Covid-19 restrictions), Drs. Slone and Bylund decided to share their knowledge and tools with the world through their nonprofit organization, TechHealthy.org.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Dr. Slone is co-founder of the TechHealthy.org, a credentialed educator and school administrator, and a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) with national board certifications in school psychology (NCSP), neuropsychology (ABSNP) and behavior analysis (BCBA).

With more than two decades of experience in the fields of education and psychology, and as a father of three children, Dr. Slone co-founded the nonprofit TechHealthy.org to solve a problem he saw families, schools, colleagues and businesses struggling with worldwide—managing today’s technology in healthy ways.

Through his tireless work in schools and private practice, his research and publications, and as a highly acclaimed presenter nationwide, Dr. Slone has helped countless parents, students, educators, clinicians, individuals and organizations take control of their technology and use it in the healthiest way possible in their homes and work.

With TechHealthy.org, Dr. Slone has co-created the #1 organization for people to go to for evidence-based information on TechHealthy habits, strategies, treatments and supports for themselves, their schools, their businesses, their relationships, and their loved ones.  Thank you for visiting and supporting TechHealthy.org, and helping Dr. Slone in his mission for a TechHealthy society.

Dr. Bylund has been serving children and youth with known and suspected disabilities, in both public school and private settings, for the past 14 years.  He holds a Masters (MA) degree in Counseling, Education Specialists (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology, and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychological Assessment and Intervention.

Over his career, Dr. Bylund has served as a school psychologist, school district director, university instructor, and founded an agency that provides psychological services to children in schools.  In his private practice, he also he conducts neuropsychological evaluations of children and youth, is a neurotherapist (i.e., biofeedback and neurofeedback), and a certified coach (see – http://drjamesbylund.com and http://jamesbylundcoaching.com).

It was his personal experience, however, that first turned his attention to the impact screen devices have on a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral development.  Dr. Bylund and his wife, a social worker, observed the adverse impact excessive recreational screen use was having with their oldest son.  In response, they implemented new screen healthy lifestyle choices and experienced a remarkable turnaround.

Dr. Bylund then turned his attention to the problems associated with excessive recreational use in his clinical practice.  He began gathering information related to screen use and associated symptoms as part of his neuropsychological evaluations and started educating parents, schools, and mental health providers through his consultations and professional presentations.  As his expertise in this area grew, so did his passion and this led to his collaboration with Dr. Slone and their forming the non-profit TechHealthy.org as a vehicle to educate families, schools, and mental health providers as well as adults, couples, and organizations on the healthy use of screen devices.
